Chance's Email 7/7/08

beloved family,

thanks for the letter it was awesome! i am stoked to hear that london is going to china! that is so intense and awesome! ya london i am sure that the food will be different but dont worry. the chileans dont even know what a burrito is. serious. i am also glad to hear that dads leg is getting better, marcus is searching for jobs, 4th of july was great, and the martins visited. i think you should tell everyone the package address because mike steckling tried to send me a letter and it got sent back as well. i am not sure where my pres lives now but they live in utah somwhere. our new pres is awesome and everyone loves him. we are all stoked. i dont have a lot of time today cause we did an activity with our zone today and it cut out on some of our pday time.. youll never guess what we did....paintball!! how awesome is that???? i had such a blast. i didnt think we could do it but ya we could. we took this bus to the middle of nowhere and played in this forest. they had brown jumpsuits, onepiece, for us and camo one piece for the other team and we had a riot! eric and i dominated kamikazzee style it was awesome. i have some pretty good welts to show too. unfortunately i forgot to bring my camera but eric brought his and elder marshal (my mtc buddy) had his and i aksed them to make copies so all should be good. this coming sunday we have 2 baptisms! i am stoked and i am performing one myself! i am really excited slash a little nervous because she is pretty big so i need to do some push ups and pray for strength. we have had some awesome teaching experiences. we found this family the delgado family and they are very genuine and ready for the gospel. they have been married for 20 years and have two kids and are new to chile. they are very poor and very humble. the dad works on sundays but after hearing our message he stood up to his boss and said i dont care what yo0u say this is important to me and im going to church and he went to church with us yesterday along with his wife and daughter. he loves the gospel and we have set a date for their family to be baptised on the 27th. its so cool this work. last week has flown by but the days are long. during our fast and testimony meeting yesterday a blind man in our ward got up, he blesses the sacrament almost every sunday, and he got up and bore his testimony and thanked heavenly father for all his blessings including his health and it was awesome. it really humbled me and made me think of how much i take for granted. after church we ate at an investigators house that is going to be baptized next week. she is awesome her name is margarita munoz and i want you guys to eat at her house when you come down. her house is safe and she is awesome. she was the first person i ever taught. we had rice, fries, fried eggs, and steak, random huh? but thats really normal, the food here is so different but i loved her food. what they do here in chile is serve shredded lettuce with oil as the dressing. plain lettuce with oil. then they will have cut up onions in a dish. then they will have in another dish tomatoes. you just dish it out and eat it, you dont mix it with anything its just the side dish soooo weird ha ha. they also have a really weird mayonaise here that most people like but im not fond of it. ok funny story. so we were eating with the flores family (the dry toast family, like greek wedding, but seriously they are the ones that feed us toast till we cant eat anymore) and the grandpa in the house was talking a lot and i noticed something; first, he always has a snaggle tooth and second, his teeth move when he talks, he has dentures!!! man, those things are not stuck in place at all, they are moving around like people in a packed wave pool. i couldnt stop staring, i felt bad ha ha. but one day we were talking and someone banged on their door really hard and ran away. the grandpa went out there and yelled every word in the book. i was afraid he was gonna yell his teeth out. we had a good laugh.
ok i will try to find a sleeping bag but i haven´t seen one yet. my bed isnt horrible but i know i have one of the best and i am a sleeping bag fanso i'll get one. well about the package it should be here this week. it usually takes 15 to 20 days so it should be here this week. the address my comp gave me for packages and letters is the following. my name, my mission and the following-----forestal 2680 of. 32 conchali Santiago Chile is the address that should be used. i am confident whatever address you used is ok but for now i think this one is better. our office is changing locations so i will try to keep you updated. the city i am in is vivaceta, if you happen to talk to someone who knows santiago tell them i can see the hipodromo from my window. dont fret too much about the recipes i have found ways to eat good ha ha and my comp cooks almost every night . he loves all the homemaking stuff like cooking and cleaning, he cleans almost everyday and the apt. has to be spotless. he loves shopping, he bought us some curtains for the apartment and he wants to buy a plant because he thinks our apartment is too plain and he watches cooking shows like the ones that are on at 3 in the morning that noone watches ha ha its funny. well i gotta go... thank you so much for your prayers, i am praying for you as well cause i am doing better than you think, i want you guys to be happy. thanks so much and tell everyone i am trying to write them. i love you so much family of mineelder peterson

I am laughing so hard at this letter. I am just imagining Chance and his cute smile staring at some of this food and thinking, "How am I going to get this down?" He has such a cute way of telling stories. This is so much fun to share Chance's mission with you. Thanks for sharing!
